Meats & Greens

There aren’t a lot of things in life better than a fresh, healthy, farm-to-table meal. But finding healthy options that actually taste great can be challenging. Lucky for us Dallasites, Mudhen in the Farmer’s Market offers all that and more.

Alas, all good things must come to an end. MudHen Meats & Greens recently announced that they will be closing their doors on November 3, 2019. They will be greatly missed, and although they are closing up shop, we still think they deserve proper recognition.

With its quaint, farm-house aesthetic, warm staff, and impressively healthy menu options, Mudhen delivers an experience that embraces homestyle cooking with attention to detail. Aside from the obvious health-conscious benefits such as free-range beef, locally farmed produce, and kombucha on tap, the mastermind chefs behind the concept take things beyond the surface level.

For example, the majority of their creams are non-dairy, made with cashews instead of milk. They also substitute everyday items such as soy sauce with healthy alternative aminos – and you would never know the difference!

Named as Dallas’ best farm-to-table restaurant by Food Network, the concept seamlessly delivers healthier dishes, without compromising flavor. Their restaurant description states, “they are not a health food restaurant, but offer a huge assortment of healthful options, for those who care.” It’s a refreshing break from the pushy tactics that can be associated with a healthy lifestyle by simply making good food that tastes great and is awesome for your body too.

Some of our favorites from the menu include the stuffed avocado, grass-fed beef burger, and mushroom Bolognese pasta. If you’re feeling a little creative, you can also build your own bowl. Choose from a wide assortment of seasonal, fresh greens, veggies and fruits grown by local farmers with love, topped off with your choice of protein. They strive to carry organic items when possible and offer vegetarian and vegan options for those who prefer plant-based fare.  Fair warning though, some items may not be available due to season and inventory.

But the conversation doesn’t stop with food at Mudhen. Their juice and kombucha options do not disappoint. With juice mixes such as Detox Lemonade, Lean Greens and Dragons Nectar, how could you go wrong?! Not to mention, they offer an all-too trendy CBD infused kombucha, as well as a slow-simmered bone broth if you’re feeling extra hipster.

As mentioned at the beginning of our article, MudHen Meats & Greens recently announced that they will be closing their doors on November 3, 2019. They will be greatly missed, and although they are closing up shop, we still think they deserve proper recognition. Make sure to visit them before they close!
